$22.5 Million for the following:
•· Build new facilities to accommodate Grades K through 6.
•· Improve traffic safety flow and parking, particularly at the junior high.
•· Upgrade and repair HS science labs and career and technology areas.
•· Add appropriate district technology infrastructure and equipment.
•· Update safety & security at all campus buildings.
•· Second tier priorities include upgrading high school vocational, band and fine arts areas.
Financial Impact
•· Diboll ISD presently taxes at the state minimum of $1.04.
•· Diboll kids can get a new school and other facility upgrades for approximately $9
a month from the average homeowner after the first year. (For more specific

•· This proposal takes advantage of state supplemental facilities money if the
community approves the bonds.
•· If voters approve the bonds, DISD has qualified for $5.7 million in QSCAB
interest-free bonds.
•· The expected increase in the tax rate will be less than the tax rate we were
paying in 2005 prior to tax compression.
•· Senior homesteads are totally unaffected by this bond. Their tax bills are frozen.
Additional facts
•· The new elementary school will have separate wings for upper and lower grades.
•· The new school will be designed with input from teachers and staff specifically
for DISD curriculum and students.
•· High school science labs and career and technology areas are out of date,
limiting compliance with state mandates.
•· Present facilities need electronic monitoring equipment to ensure safety of
students and teachers.
•· Bond money will only be used for these facilities projects.
